Trips 1975–1982

Following his resignation as Federal Chancellor, the SPD chairman Willy Brandt is highly active for the most part in foreign policy. As President of the Socialist International (from 1976 on), as chairman of the North-South Commission (from 1977 on) and as a member of the European Parliament (from 1979 on), Brandt again notably increases his already high number of travels abroad. From 1975 to 1982, he makes more than 160 trips to 41 different countries.

In this time frame, Willy Brandt most often visits France which, beginning in the late 1970s, becomes his favourite vacation destination. Not to be forgotten are the many trips and appointments in the Federal Republic which Brandt undertakes as SPD chairman. These are not listed here.
