Speech at the opening of the “Week of Brotherhood” in Cologne, 21 March 1971

At the opening of the Christian-Jewish “Woche der Brüderlichkeit” (“Week of Brotherhood”), Federal Chancellor Willy Brandt delivers a well-respected speech for tolerance and against racism. He points out that the commitment to human rights begins at home, and he thereby deplores discrimination against so-called “guest workers” in the Federal Republic.
